 Smoking Cessation Program

For those patients that have a family doctor at the Niagara Medical Group Family Health Team, that are wishing to quit smoking or discuss the options or process of quitting, one on one counseling is provided by a Health Care Provider.

The program is based on self-referral you simply need to contact your family physicians office and an initial appointment can be booked.  All appointments are 30 minutes in length.  Appointments are offered one morning a week.  Follow up is offered, typically every two to three weeks and will continue for approximately one month post quitting smoking.

During a smoking cessation appointment the patient will discuss with the health care provider options on quitting smoking whether it be medication or behavior modification.  There is no cost to the patient for the program.  All educational materials are provided by the Canadian Cancer Society.
