Nurse Practitioner Program

Who are we:

We are registered nurses in the Extended Class with additional education and experience who are able to order and interpret diagnostic tests, communicate diagnoses, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures.  We work collaboratively with many other health professionals. In particular, we consult with physicians, as required by the needs of their patients.

How we can help:

  • Diagnosing, treating, evaluating and managing acute and chronic illness and disease (e.g. diabetes, high blood pressure)
  • Obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examinations
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., routine lab tests, x-rays, EKGs)
  • Prescribing pharmacologic treatments and therapies for acute and chronic illness (extent of prescriptive authority is limited)
  • Providing prenatal care and family planning services
  • Providing well-child care, including screening and immunizations
  • Providing primary and specialty care services, health-maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals
  • Counseling and educating patients on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options (e.g., smoking cessation, weight management)

Getting an Appointment/At Your Appointment:
